Levon Maynard won big at UWC on Saturday October 11th. Maynard is one of the rising stars in the SuckerPunch stable and we are excited about his future in this sport. Here is what FiveOuncesOfPain.com had to say about Levons performance at the UWC:
Welterweight LeVon Maynard, who has been sponsored by FiveOuncesOfPain.com for several of his past fights, improved his pro record to 4-2 following a dominant TKO over Toby Johnson at 3:40 of round 1.
Johnson, who trains out of Albuquerque, N.M. with WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit, is considered a strong prospect in his own right and is known for having strong jiu-jitsu. However, he was no match for Maynard, who ended up in top position after Johnson clinched him up against the cage and failed in an attempt to score a trip takedown.
A poised and patient Maynard pressed Johnson against the cage and began to connect with short elbows before opening up with some vicious strikes that forced the referee to call a stop to the fight. For Maynard, it was his second consecutive win. Facing former EliteXC light heavyweight John Doyle this past August during a Combat Sports Challenge event in Colonial Heights, VA, Maynard won via first round submission just minutes into the bout.

From the pix looks like it was a hell of a fight. Congrats on the win, and like BIG FROM said celebrate the win.
Thanks a lot for the support guys! I really had a blast on Saturday at the show. I never really got a chance to talk to Toby but he seemed like a good guy and I appreciate the fact that he accepted the match up.
Prior to the match I knew that Toby loved to submit his opponents. I wanted to try to stay standing and go for a KO (They were giving KO bonuses) but I figured at some point he would want to close the distance, which he did when I went for a switch step left right combo. He pressed me against the cage but I was able to reverse the position and eventually get the top postion on the ground when he attempted a rolling kneebar. From there I basically maintained a top position and unloaded some elbows and punches until the ref stopped it. I felt I did a good job in the match and avoided taking damage from a well established oppponent.
I definitely appreciate all the support I get from all you guys here at the SuckerPunch website, the sponsors, my coach (Mateo De Los Reyes), training partners (at Global Martial Arts and Combat Sports Center), and my family.
It looks like I’ll be taking a trip to visit Jeff Curran and his team in Illinois two weeks from now. Maybe I should try out for TUF 9 while I am out there…
Levon you should DEFINITELY try out for the Ultimate Fighter 9… With your insane cardio and technique you would be a heavy favorite… and you being so humble, laid back, and with your positive attitude they wouldn’t have to worry about you crying for your girlfriend, getting all drunk and crazy, and destroying the Ultimate fighter House lol.
Congrats to LeVon. I have trained with him at Global Martial Arts and he is without a doubt one of the most humble, respectful guys I know. He would be a welcome addition and change for Dana White and the UFC. LeVon would just train and learn from the best trainers, not drink and destory the house and all that stuff. LeVon carries himself with honor and class, which would represent Dana White and the UFC well. Good luck in Chicago and break a leg, hopefully someone else’s, just kidding. Continue to be true to yourself and be a warrior in body and mind! Take Care!
Shawn
Congrats on another awesome victory Levon! I don’t know of anyone who has a better work ethic and trains as hard as you. You definitely deserve it all. Looking forward to seeing you fight in the big leagues!
There only one word to describe Levon….MONSTER!
Levon’s a true student of the game, and without a doubt UFC quality.
But you don’t have to believe me…. Im sure Dana White will think likewise
Wooohoooo…I finally got to watch it today…its on the front page of Sherdog again! welldone Levon!!!
