SuckerPunch Entertainment has signed Phillip “The Wicked” Wyman.
SP: You are an active Duty Marine correct?
Phillip: Yes sir, I enlisted with the Marines in 1994 to be a Grunt, 0311 infantryman.
SP: How did you get into MMA?
Phillip: In 2000 Phillip read an article that the US Marine Corps was forming a new “Combative Martial Arts System”. Being a student of martial arts my life I decided this was my calling.
I requested a school seat and they offered me a job upon completion of
the course as the “School house Admin Chief”. I was in a position where they were still testing techniques that worked and did not work. During this time I was persuaded to compete in MMA to test the techniques and to prove the Marines as fighters, I have been doing it ever since.
SP: Why do they call you “The Wicked”?
Phillip: Haha… well i wish it was for something I did or for something really cool but… turns out it was just a typo on my form while i was out training with Renzo Gracie. Combine the typo with a translation error when read with a thick brazilian accent and presto, I’m “The Wicked”.
I guess i can make it cool and just say, I got my name from Renzo Gracie. hahaha.
SP: How did you become a member of the Lions Den?
Phillip: Ken Shamrock came to our camp as an SME (Subject Matter Expert) and after wroking with us on techniques to refine the Marine martial arts program he asked me to tryout. So in 2005 i did and I made the team.
SP: How do you juggle the duties of being a Marine and a pro MMA fighter?
Phillip: It has been difficult at times when the sport was relatively new and my commanders would not allow me to compete in an ultimate sport. After long debates and proving to them that it was safer than many other sports they allowed me to compete.”
I continue to embrace the desire to refine my technique and hold a balance of a Marine Warrior and Martial artist.
SP: When are you fighting next?
Phillip: I should be fighting Dec 7 but i think we are just waiting on the paperwork. Keep checking back at this site, SuckerPunch does a great job in keeping you up to date on what is going on with all of us.
SuckerPunch Entertainment is proud to have Phillip on board. We feel he has the dedication, skill and heart to make it but most importantly he has all the characteristics you would want as a role model and ambassador for this sport.
We would like to recognize Gamma-O, Jesus Didn’t Tap and Critical Fight Gear for taking the chance and supporting the rising stars in the SuckerPunch stable. Through supporting tomorrow’s stars sponsors like them truly help evolve this sport.

I am proud to be aboard and hope that this journey will be fruitful. I would like to personally thank my new sponsors GAMMA-O, Jesus Didn’t Tap and Critical. I will represent your company in a light that brings honor to this sport. I believe that most aspects of Traditionalism has passed and the traditonal or “classical” martial artist has not been represented up to date but by only a few. I intend to be that ambassador despite my fight name.
Respectfully submitted,
Phillip “The Wicked” Wyman

Hey Phillip,
Congratulations, do your best in everything and win one for the traditionalist!! 😉
I’m sorry, did I read that correctly? STILL an active Marine AND an MMA fighter? By Traditionalism, I assume you mean the Character that should go with the Martial arts, Respect, Loyalty, Honour, that sort of stuff…I suspect that you will already have that Attitude having served in the US Forces. One of my best online buddies EVER who ive met several times in England and The U.S (and am due to meet again next year on my States Tour) Was a US Marine…he now works in Government 🙂
Suckerpunch have a habit of promoting fighters that not only have the skills one would expect, but also have the Character aswell, thats SO important to people like me, who, care more about the person, and the man behind the fighter…then another sports statistic, and fight record of wins and losses.
If you’ve been Certified by Brian Butler as part of the team, then I welcome you. He is a man of sound judgement 🙂
Congrats Phil
I am glad you joined up with SuckerPunch Wicked! You are a class act.
I want to wish you the best in the classics on Martial Arts.
Which I know how proud I’am of all of your accomplishments.
In life as a Marine,MMa Fighter, and the son who I love and respect very much. The World Needs More Men Like You.
Good Luck Your Dad.
P.S. Show them what you can do.
Phil,
Welcome aboard…Looking forward to see great things from you.
