SuckerPunch Entertainment and Champion Management LLC announced today a strategic alliance formed to represent several of the world’s top Mixed Martial Arts athletes.
The joint effort marks Champion’s entry into the wildly popular arena of mixed martial arts (MMA), the world’s fastest growing sport. SuckerPunch Entertainment represents some of the MMA’s best-known competitors, including Jeff Curran, Jens Pulver, and Amir Sadollah, winner of Spike TV’s most recent season of The Ultimate Fighter. Champion will seek sponsorship, endorsement and other marketing opportunities for all fighters and coaches currently managed by SuckerPunch.
“MMA represents a tremendous growth opportunity on today’s sports and entertainment landscape,” said Ladd Biro, Champion’s president. “Corporate America has already recognized the popularity of the sport among important demographic segments, and we believe the extraordinary talent in SuckerPunch’s athlete stable will have great appeal to brands seeking an affinity with the vast and loyal MMA audience.”
“MMA has launched into the mainstream consciousness in the United States, and around the globe,” said Brian Butler, president of SuckerPunch. “The Alliance of SuckerPunch and Champion will expose our fighters to more household brands looking to reach the legions of fans of this amazing sport.”

Alliance? does this mean that the two institutions have actually come together and merged on a business and financial level? or does it more represent a sorta consortium type conglomerate of existing insitutions that keep their independance and identity but work together for the good of each other and the sport? I notice that whilst Suckerpunch seems to represent individual fighters, ChampionManagement seems to be a combat sports sponcership firm of some kind extending to Pro-Wrestling and Boxing and stuff?
As Champion Management seems to be…erm inexperienced in the specific Mixed Martial Art setting, will it become mainstream MMA through Suckerpunch which is Sport Specific, and in return offer the level of sponcership and perhaps outside MMA recognition for Suckerpunch? I’m just guessing…its alright if your not allowed to tell me LOL
Brian?…woohooo…Can I call you “Mr President” ? plllease 😛
